Lovely walk out of Santo Domingo this morning. I checked the temps and it was already hot enough to not wear a long sleeved shirt over my t-shirt. Happened across several old buildings that were for sale, including the former mayor’s house which, according to the sign, featured a ballroom and a private chapel. It looked like a serious project – but it did allow my mind to wander a bit.

Shortly after leaving town I looked up in the vast blue sky to see a couple hot air balloons hanging in the still air. Stunning sight. I burst into tears at the thought of leaving such a beautiful walk soon.

At the first town down the road- I saw a familiar food truck, one I’ve visited in 2018 and 2024. The owner wasn’t there last time but he was there this morning. I told him I remembered him from a while ago and found his photo from 2018. He commented that his beard is much whiter now. His name is Javi (only his mom calls him Javier). He asked if I’ve ever stayed at the church’s albergue in that town and recommended it – it’s apparently up the stairs of the church tower and he said it has a very special spirit about it. I thanked him for the recommendation for another time.

On the way out of that town I met two Italians who were at a point the valley backdrop behind them was gorgeous. (I’d taken a photo of the valley from a different angle.). I stopped them and got photos of them on their camera.

In the next town I was greeted by a sweet white cat. She came running over to say hello and ask for a scratch – even before she found out I had cat treats for her. Thought this was interesting as she laid down directly in my shadow.

Saw lots of delightful wildflowers today. The path, however, was along a major road between Burgos and Logrono. Lots of truck traffic, noise, dust. Not ideal for a tranquil walk. There were still a few beautiful moments.
I stopped again at 1:30 for Spanish tortilla – my typical lunch here. The recipe varied only slightly – they’ve all been quite good.

Met Stuart on the road shortly before the end stop. We chatted on the way into town and passed by a church with a couple storks nests, both of them occupied.

I’ve stayed in this location each time I’ve come to this town. Since last time they’ve added wooden igloos out back on the lawn as an option. I’m in the attic with 24 other people. Dinner was a communal meal – lively discussion. Off to sleep now.
More later…
I’m walking for charity:water. I’d love for you to join me!

Interesting comments. Glad your legs/feet seem to be feeling better…I have been praying about that. 24 people in one room…how can anyone sleep! Temp in the 50’s with icy wind today but Audrey Smith and I bundled up and walked anyway. Love you lots. Mother
Thanks, Mom! Well done on figuring out the the comments. 🙂💕 So glad you’re getting out to walk in the fresh air. Lots of love! M
Sleep well. What a beautiful day. Hope the attic was not the bell tower
