10 Days Out – Pray List

“It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door.” (JRR Tolkien)

…but who’s counting?!

Travel danger always been real.  So, I pray for “traveling mercies”, as I heard growing up…apparently that’s the kind of mercies that pack their bags and come with us.

In this day and age, for me – a more dangerous business than going out my door may be, I think, sitting at home and doom scrolling endlessly.  I, like many, pray that the wars will cease, people of every nation will be respected and cared for, and that our differences will bring us together, not push us further apart.

I pray for my family, both at home and for the family members I’m going to visit.  These people are my nearest and dearest.

I pray for my coworkers, some of whom are going through hardships at the moment.  And for friends who are in various parts of the world. Hugs to them all.

I pray for the people I’ll meet along the trail. Hoping to be able to make their days just a little better.  Forgive me for not noticing when other people have been trying to do the same for me.

In the wee hours this morning, I sat in the dark listening to the Lectio 365 app by candlelight.  The Psalm for the day seemed very appropriate for the day:

“Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow.  Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me.  All day long I put my hope in you.” (Psalm 25:4-5)

I am excited for the upcoming adventure, come what may.

More later…
