Plan B

About 4 PM I was out for my second walk of the day. Just feeling stir crazy. I got an email from TAP while I was out that their current projection was that they could get me into Madrid by Tuesday, which would mean a Wednesday start to my walk.

Time for a Plan B.

I got cleaned up, called a Lyft, and headed to the airport. My friend Joanne had suggested Miami to Madrid. After checking several options this seemed like the best one.

I got a credit requested from TAP, confirmed with Iberia that I had a reservation from Miami to Madrid. Then booked the first flight out to Miami on United.

Everything thus far is just one way. I checked which airlines fly into Santiago and TAP is one of them! So my thought is to use the TAP credit to get out of Santiago and just forego heading back to Madrid at all. Grateful for the travel insurance to get reimbursed for the extra expenses.

It will be a long night. I don’t sleep great on planes and probably even less in airports. But my flight is early and I’m hoping by then I can sleep. …or maybe in Miami?

Grateful to know a place to stay in Sahagun before I start out on my walk. I’m going to need it!

  1. You amaze me with your resourcefulness! I would be in a spin. That is why you are so good at your job and they appreciate you – resource investigator extraordinaire! Have a great flight and may good karma restore the balance of your upset start with unexpected grace.
