Day 7
At almost 28k, today was difficult just for the length, not the terrain. The terrain was relatively non-descript compared to other days. The photos I’ve taken are for my husband, who appreciates azure / aquamarine blue sky. The sky today was gorgeous.

This path-side shelter is a good reminder that people attempt the Camino in every season. In an emergency such as a winter storm such a stone hut could be a lifesaver.

I was thinking this coat of arms might belong to the ancestral family of Maurice Sendak.

Today’s minor casualty was my KillerLoop sunglasses. Sunglasses are on my Camino essential list. But, fortunately I was able to pop into a hiking shop along the way and pick up a substitute. I’m keeping the pieces because I think KL may guarantee theirs for life?? Not sure but worth checking.

Hostels seemed packed and a bit moldy (which I’m allergic to) so I splashed out for a hotel. It’s the US equivalent of a Doubletree but at Red Roof prices. I’m sure I’m not the first pilgrim to wash their grubby trail clothes in the tub. Don’t worry, I’ll tip the maid.
Had dinner with some lovely pilgrim friends that I met the first day. Saw this wall art on the way back to the hotel.

Today marks one week of hiking. To date, according to my iPhone’s tally, I hit for the week:
Floors Climbed: 139
Steps: 267,062
Miles: 85.2
I think it’s safe to say this week marks a personal best. Another early night.
More later…
