- Merrill waterproof hiking boots
- Teva sandals
- 3 pr. wool socks
- Waterproof Columbia jacket with zip-out liner that’s actually a fleece jacket
- 2 Macabi (convertible) hiking skirts…cool invention http://www.macabiskirt.com
- 2 short sleeve shirts
- 1 long sleeve shirt
- 1 pr light shorts
- Wool hat & light gloves
- Buff
- Various lightweight undergarments
- Swimsuit
- Sarong (used as skirt, towel, sheet, scarf, & a shawl for church visits)
- Foldable Panama straw hat

- Nail clippers
- Band-aids & mole skin
- Ibuprofen & knee brace
- Capsaicin (for accurate description see WebMD)
- Lotion
- Sunscreen & lip balm
- Deodorant
- Hand sanitizer
Sundry:
- Sunglasses
- Reading glasses
- Ear plugs (for dealing with snoring fellow-pilgrims)
- Small loo roll & waste bags
- Method dish soap (for dishes & clothes)
- A couple Tide pods
- Shoelaces
- Clothes pins
- Diaper pins (to hold clothes on line if it’s windy)
- 3 water bottles*, tin cup, & spork
- Water purification tablets (if water source is questionable)
- Wet wipes
- Quick-dry towel
- Head lamp
- Small pack torch
- Watch
- Travel-safe wedding ring
- Passport & drivers license
- Insurance card
- A few euros & bank card
No need to pack a tent or cooking supplies as pilgrim hostels, B&Bs, and cafes are plentiful. And, anything I’ve forgotten can be picked up in the many small towns along the way.
* will fill all 3 when crossing the desert and this will be my heaviest item.
Great list. Have you also checked out the trousers that unzip at the knee? This way you only have to take one thing but you get two outfits out of it for all weathers. You can even buy ones with buttons on to make 3/4 lengths too! Where on Earth are you going!?
Did I see earplugs on your list for those snoring pilgrims? And a rock (small but significant) for Cruz de Hierro and the tradition to leave a rock that you carried with you the whole way there.
Good catch! Forgot both those items on the list – but they’re both in my pack! I’m actually bringing a few extra pairs earplugs for folks who forgot theirs. ….blessed are the merciful & all….😆
Thanks again – I added the missing items. 🙂
