Molinaseca to Villafranca

Day 24

Set out before 7 and made the 7.5k to Ponferrada. The morning after a good rain is always a bit misty and colors the fields and mountains in a different light.

Ventured past a formidable castle to the inglesia at the older past of town.  Two friends met me, unplanned, in the church.

We met a third friend and had breakfast together and hatched a plan to do a long trek to a beautiful village in vineyard country. Gorgeous country.

It was a long hot walk but we rested in a few lovely spots along the way. To deviate from the albergues we shared the cost an Air B&B and an apartment. It was wonderful to have access to a kitchen, be able to sleep with the windows open, and wake to the sound of birds. My friends went out to the plaza last night after dinner and I retired early.

We are a multi-country contingent. USA, Venezuela, Italy, and France. Between the context and the gestures I’m picking up a few phrases. But, with the mix of Spanish, with French and Italian thrown in for good measure it’s a rich Latin language soup.

Great, peaceful memories in the making.
